It's good to talk: Rodgers and Mignolet have discussed the keeper's poor form
Under fire keeper Simon Mignolet is strong enough to come through his current torment, according the boss Brendan Rodgers.
“Migonolet is fine. I had a good chat with him. We paid a lot of money for him to come in, and he has saved us in a lot of games over my time,” Rodgers explained.
“His performance has been like the rest of the team, he has struggled at times. It can affect confidence, but it is part of the sport, part of the game and all you can do is focus on being the best you can be in the next game.”
Michael Steele
Rodgers reckons Mignolet simply has to show the mental toughness demanded of all players at this level – and he insisted he wouldn't be at Liverpool unless he had that.
“The focus on you is magnified at one of the great clubs in the world and you have to accept it as part of the job. If not, then you don't come to a club like this,” he added.
“You have to embrace it - if you are going to be at this level of football then you have to cope with it. Sometimes it won't always go your way and you have to fight even harder then to ensure you come back.”
The manager also suggested the rest of the team have to rally round to ensure everyone takes responsibility during the current slump.
Propaganda
“It's just a collective – it is a team game. When you are scoring goals it has an impact for midfielders and defenders. For us it's about collective responsibility, not just about one player.
“An unfortunate aspect of being a goalkeeper is the focus is on your mistakes, it's what you get when you choose to do that. But he's a strong enough character to get through that. Like the team his confidence will come back as the season progresses.”
Liverpool will still be without Mario Balotelli for the visit of Stoke.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are now consulting lawyers to establish whether the pitch invaders have any connection to the electronics firm whose logo they sported on their shirts.
Tottenham's Roberto Soldado tackles a pitch invader
That firm, Bassbuds, advertise on Tottenham's official website. They have denied any involvement but Spurs have severed their links with them and could yet take legal action.
A statement via Twitter from Bassbuds read: "We are appalled that the game was interrupted in this manner. We do not condone the interruption of any sporting fixture in this way."
The pitch invaders have been named as Gomes Garcia, Nathan Brown and Dan Jarvis. After entering the field of play they attempted to take selfies with the Tottenham players and evaded stewards who tried to catch them.
Fuming Spurs said later on their website: "Three pitch invaders at tonight's match have been arrested and are assisting police with their enquiries.
"We apologise to fans for the disruptions caused by this totally unacceptable behaviour."
The men had hinted at the stunt ahead of the game. Their Twitter account posted: "Ima say less but tonight expect a mad one," on Thursday morning.
And Garcia tweeted hours before the match: "Tonight my cojones will be put to the test."
This weekend marks the start of a hectic run of fixtures with sides in action a further six times in the next month, with a cheeky midweek installment coming up.
Fear not, you'll get the chance to mix things up for that round of matches but you need get the foundations in place to attack the busy winter.
But after another round of European fixtures, who's struggling for fitness? Which teams are in for a routine three points? Who's the cheap option to snap up and who gets the all-important captain's armband?
Arsenal get things rolling at West Brom on Saturday lunchtime and there's plenty of points to be had.
Key injuries/suspensions
Rule one of fantasy football is pick players who are guaranteed play, so don't get caught out. There's a full list of injuries and doubts below, but here's a few high profile abstenees.
Mikel Arteta has added to Arsenal's lengthy injury list after picking up a hamstring injury in the win over Dortmund. Jack Wilshere is also set for a spell on the sidelinesso it's probably time to get him out.
Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny missed the Champions League clash and remains a doubt.
Manchester City will again be without David Silva for their trip to Southampton with the Spaniard still out with a knee injury.

Crocked: Silva is still out for City
Favourable match-ups of the week
Manchester United welcome Hull to Old Trafford with Saturday's victory at Arsenal taking them into the top four. At home, Louis van Gaal's men have been impressive, winning four of their six encounters to date. Hull meanwhile, are just a point off the bottom three having not won in five.
In Saturday's late kick-off, revenge is on the cards as Chelsea head to Sunderland. Gus Poyet's men ended their opponents' title charge last term but the Blues are a different animal these days. They smashed five past Schalke on the road in midweek and you'd expect them to emerge victorious again.
Big names/bandwagons to avoid
Southampton have enjoyed a fantastic start but their visit of Manchester City is the start of a horrendous run. Ronald Koeman believes his side can stay in the top four but the next month is a real test. It may be time to take out some of the Saints' high-scoring defenders.
Tottenham got out of jail at Hull again last weekend having played against 10-men for most of the second-half. They welcome Everton to White Hart Lane having lost four of six matches played after European fixtures. With a trip to Chelsea on the cards in midweek, you may want to look elsewhere for points.
Run ending: The visit of City could spell disaster for people with Fraser Forster in their team
Bargain corner
Burnley striker Danny Ings has lifted the gloom around Turf Moor. His brace at Stoke last time out secured back-to-back wins and the England Under-21 man is showing he belongs at this level. With struggling Villa in town, he'll hope to add to his tally.
It surely can't be too long before Roy Hodgson finally notices Nathan Dyer at Swansea. The winger is a goal threat and chips in with assists too - setting up Wilfried Bony for the opener at Man City last time out. At the Liberty Stadium, the Swans are very strong and you'd expect them to see off Palace.

Worth a gamble: Dyer is a regular points scorer
Who should I captain?
He's got the armband for both club and country and we believe you should giveWayne Rooney the nod this weekend. The United man's strike at the Emirates last weekend was excellent, coming on the back of a couple of impressive displays for England.
He looks full of confidence right now and has six in his last four games against Hull.
Looking ahead...
Where possible, it's always good to play the long game, so if you have the luxury of being able to do any tactical substitutions with an eye on the future, then take advantage.
In terms of teams with easy schedules, then Liverpool should interest you. The Reds haven't won in five but host Stoke on Saturday before a trip to Leicester in midweek. With two in two Rickie Lambert could be worth taking a punt on.
It might also be worth casting a glance towards Wilfried Bony, as he'll hope to boost his numbers in home clashes with Palace and QPR.
Injuries, doubts, suspensions, etc
