Washington closed "Guantanamo Middle" in Afghanistan

US Department of Defense announced the closure of the base and Bagram, Wednesday, which closes a controversial chapter in the "war on terror" after 13 years on the invasion of Washington to Afghanistan and topple the Taliban regime.

A US official also said that Washington no longer detain anyone in Afghanistan, adding that another prisoner "who hold the nationality of third countries", ie are not Americans and Afghans, are no longer under the supervision of US forces.

The official, who declined to be identified, that all prisons in Afghanistan, officially will be transferred to the custody of Kabul on the first of January 2015, the date of entry into force of the bilateral security treaty between the two countries.

Among these prisons, Bagram controversial and located some 40 kilometers from Kabul, where prisoners were tortured during the "war on terror" period announced by former US President George W. Bush.

The announcement comes in the wake of the publication of the US Senate report, reviewed the violent methods of torture resorted to by the CIA during the investigation with some of the suspects after the September 11, 2011 attacks

The United States transferred the prison nicknamed "Guantanamo Middle" to the custody of the Afghan government in the spring of 2013, but retained responsibility for about 50 foreign detainees being held there, including many Pakistanis.
