Obama hails Jordan to host Syrian refugees



US President Barack Obama on Friday said that the United States will continue in the coming months to try to reach a nuclear deal with Iran and that Washington would increase annual aid to Jordan to one billion dollars.
Obama, who was speaking after a visit to Jordan's King Abdullah to the White House that it was not clear whether Tehran will seize the opportunity to reach an agreement in nuclear talks with Western powers said.
Obama said to reporters, "The King briefed on the negotiations with Iran, and I explained to him that we would prefer not to agree on a deal is bad but we continue to stick to the possibility that we can eliminate the threat of Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon."
He continued, saying, "We can not determine whether Iran will seize this opportunity or not yet, but we will try again in the next few months, and we will be telling Jordan that."
Washington considers Jordan an important ally in the region, Obama praised the kingdom for hosting refugees displaced by the war in Syria.
Obama said the United States would provide loan guarantees and additional aid to Jordan "to promote political and economic reforms that took place in Jordan."
He added that the United States and its allies are making slow progress, but steadily in the fight against radical Islamic state regulation.
Bush said that Jordan a strong partner in the mediation for a peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians.
But he added: "It is clear in the wake of the (war) Gaza and some of the challenges in Jerusalem that the environment is conducive to this kind of peace initiatives that we would like to see."
He continued, "We will continue to exchange ideas with the recognition that in the end what will be in the interest of Israelis and Palestinians is the ability to live together side by side in peace and security, and that the Palestinians have their own state."
